Description
My friend Victoria Kostadinova created this flag. She and others have been flying Ukrainian flags above the Mount Joy Orchard on Munjoy Hill at sunrise and sunset. I spotted her flying it early on March 1 after I dropped my son off at the East End Community School. I posted this photo on Facebook and Instagram and it was shared hundreds of times. I forgot to post it on Twitter, but Rep. Chellie Pingree's account shared it there. My great-grandmother was born in Sortavala, Finland, and when she was a child the Russians invaded and burned the family homestead and sauna. What a tremendous waste. My great-grandmother later immigrated to the United States. Portland Stands with Ukraine.
